The Manistee lives up to its commonly used name, the Big Manistee. It's wide, expansive water that hosts huge runs of Chinook salmon. Coursing through natural, undeveloped woodlands, the Manistee is perfectly suited for our large jet boats, which enable us to cover miles of its clear, gravel bottomed water. Although we occasionally wade stretches with floating fly line tackle, most of our fly fishing with nymphing rigs is from the boats. The Chinooks here run especially large and when hooked, typically challenge us to chase after them with the boat. The Manistee's bonus is the possibility of hookups with large resident brown trout in brilliant spawning colors and summer run or early fall run steelhead. The Manistee enables River Quest guides to provide clients with consistently high quality fly fishing, day after day, throughout the month, as the runs build and peak. Lots of sore arms and unforgettable memories mark a day spent with River Quest on the Big Manistee. You owe it to yourself and friends to make it a date.
